Shanghai, China – September 2026 – 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation (5G-ACIA) and the Alliance of Industrial Internet (AII) are proud to announce their first-ever joint publication, which explores how 5G-Advanced meets and drives the development of the next-generation Industrial Internet. The publication not only analyses the key technical capabilities of 5G-Advanced relevant for the industrial domain but also shows how 5G-Advanced facilitates the transformation across key industrial segments including production operations, inspection and monitoring, warehousing and logistics, and operations management. In these areas, representative commercial deployments and field-trial cases have been studied to show how 5G-Advanced solves the challenges of the respective industrial applications and the benefits it brings.
The partnership focuses on identifying topics of mutual interest, exchanging information and publications, conducting joint promotional activities, and facilitating participation in selected meetings and events. Through regular coordination and knowledge sharing, the organizations seek to strengthen the dialogue between the communications and industrial automation communities and contribute to globally aligned technology development.
The publication was officially unveiled at the Industrial 5G Day event in Shanghai on 3rd September 2026, co-organized and co-hosted by 5G-ACIA with Huawei. The successful workshop brought together leading experts, organizations, and practitioners to jointly discuss the latest developments of Industrial 5G. This included showcasing the latest Industrial 5G technologies and components currently available on the market. The Industrial 5G Day is part of a week-long series of 5G-ACIA events in Shanghai, including 5G-ACIA Plenary meeting and factory visit.

“The long-term collaboration between 5G-ACIA and AII is an essential element in strengthening the global exchange of best practices in industrial digitalization. The joint report highlights how 5G-Advanced can build on this solid foundation by delivering enhanced connectivity, determinism, intelligence, and operational efficiency for industrial applications. By bringing together the expertise of leading stakeholders from China and the international 5G industrial ecosystem, we provide a valuable reference for companies seeking to accelerate their digital transformation journeys. We believe this cooperation will help foster a common understanding of the opportunities created by 5G-Advanced and support its adoption across industries worldwide,” said Holger Schönherr, General Chair of 5G-ACIA.
“The strong partnership between AII and 5G-ACIA serves as a solid pillar for the technological evolution and application practice of industrial 5G. During the conference, AII and 5G-ACIA jointly released the publication ‘Technical Evolution and Application of 5G-Advanced in Industrial Scenarios’, marking a new milestone in our cooperation. Through this joint publication, the two parties have systematically mapped out the technical roadmaps, application scenarios, and use cases for deploying 5G-Advanced in the industrial sector, providing a valuable reference for the global advancement of industrial 5G. Moving forward, AII anticipates further deepening its collaboration with 5G-ACIA to incubate more innovative projects, use cases, while simultaneously charting the course for the research and development of industrial 6G, ” said Dr Xiaohui Yu, Chairman of AII and President of CAICT (China Academy of Information and Communications Technology).
