MNO Spectrum: 3.4-3.8 GHz
The 3.49-3.8 GHz range has been licensed to Austria’s three nationwide Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) for public 5G networks. These MNOs are permitted to build Non-Public Networks (NPNs) using their own spectrum. The 3.41-3.49 GHz range is licensed on a provincial basis. In total, four additional regional MNOs focus primarily on offering NPNs within this spectrum in specific provinces. Furthermore, the nationwide MNOs are allocated portions, or the full range, of the 3.41-3.49 GHz spectrum in certain provinces to provide additional spectrum for their public 5G networks.
Local Broadband Spectrum: 24.3-24.9 GHz
The 24.3-24.9 GHz band is designated for local broadband use. These frequencies are intended for small geographic areas and are assigned for use on specific properties. The spectrum is designed for use by NPNs.
