5G-ACIA 28th Plenary Meeting in Taipei

The 28th Plenary Meeting of 5G-ACIA took place on 5th and 6th December 2023 in Taipei.

During the two-day event, the great work of 5G-ACIA’s working groups 1 to 5 as well as their achievements were showcased. This offered a unique insight into the current topics in the field of Industrial 5G. It also provided an opportunity for all the international experts present to exchange views and network with peers.

On day 1, the audience experienced three invited talks:

✓ Jason Huang of CTOne Inc., a global cybersecurity leader in communication technology, elaborated on how to secure the 5G-driven digital transformation in smart manufacturing
✓ Jo Gilbert of GSMA, a global organization unifying the mobile ecosystem to deliver innovation that helps business and society thrive, spelled out the progress, collaborations & next steps
✓ Slawomir Stanczak (Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI) of CampusOS, a flagship project to create a modular ecosystem for open 5G campus networks, went into detail about the project and collaboration opportunities with 5G-ACIA

Furthermore, the Plenary approved a new work item for an Industrial 5G User Guide and decided on 5G-ACIA’s presence and participation in 2024 exhibitions.

Day 2 continued with in-depth views into the effort of 5G-ACIA’s working groups. This included the results of a membership survey as well as the approval of new whitepapers on topical issues. In an invited talk, Pang-An Ting, General Director of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), outlined his organization’s ongoing effort toward 6G and described the steps ahead. Furthermore, two member overview talks by Jason Huang of CTOne Inc. and Alex Chou of Askey rounded off the agenda of the Plenary meeting.
