About three years have passed since the 5G-ACIA opened its call for 5G testbeds. This is enough reason to review what has been achieved so far! In total, 5G-ACIA endorsed ten unique testbeds that each have an individual focus on a certain aspect of Industrial 5G.
In the 4th 5G-ACIA Web Seminar series, testbed members presented their results regarding the selected aspect and drew conclusions on the use of Industrial 5G.
5G sensor technology for process monitoring in manufacturing
Speakers: Niels König & Niklas Beckmann (Fraunhofer IPT); Moderator: Dr. Lisa Underberg (ifak)
The web seminar will introduce the 5G infrastructure of the 5G-Industry Campus Europe followed by explanation and live demonstration of 5G use cases with different wireless sensors. With the help of the solutions introduced in the webinar, industrial users are able to have greater flexibility and control over their manufacturing processes, especially in understanding workpiece and tool behavior.
Performance of a 5G network for PROFINET/PROFISafe data transmission
Speakers: Gustavo Cainelli (ifak) & Javier Velasquez (NXP); Moderator: Dr. Lisa Underberg (ifak)
Functional safe and secure wireless communication is essential in industrial scenarios with mixed traffic (human – machine – vehicles). Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are responsible for all safety aspects of automation systems where their mobile machines, AGVs or AMRs operate. With these premises, the testbed presented in this webinar analyzes the performance of PROFINET/PROFISafe data transmission over a 5G link.
The web seminar took place on 27 February 2024, 14:00 – 15:00 CET.
This is the first webinar in a series of three webinars. Find out more about the other two webinars:
- 19 March 2024, 14:00 – 15:00 CET: Material Handling in Manufacturing; Mobile Robotics
- 11 April 2024, 14:00 – 15:00 CEST: Planning, Implementation and optimization of an OpenRan Campus Network; 5G mmWave
